The Tasmanian government’s proposed changes to planning laws have failed to get the support needed in the Legislative Council.
The changes would have enabled some development applications bypass councils and be considered instead by development assessment panels appointed by the Tasmanian Planning Commission.
What’s next?
The government says it remains committed to development assessment panels, and will bring the legislation back to the parliament next year.
