Community Guides
Summary
PMAT works to educate, raise awareness and inspire engagement in planning and local council issues and processes in Tasmania via the development of free community guides. To date, PMAT has created six community guides which are outlined below.
PMAT's Key Concerns
- Significant changes are happening to Tasmania’s planning system with little to no community awareness or understanding.
PMAT's Key Recommendations
- Educate the Tasmanian community about the importance of planning and Tasmania’s planning system.
- Encourage community participation in Tasmania’s planning system.
PMAT’s 2023 submission guide to help the community comment on the Liberal Government proposal to remove development assessment from the normal local council process to be replaced by State-appointed Development Assessment Panels (DAPs) conducted by the Tasmanian Planning Commission and increasing Ministerial power to overrule local councils on planning scheme changes.
