GOVERNMENT SHOULD RELEASE PROPOSED MAJOR PROJECTS PROCESS NOW

Given a parliamentary vote on the Gutwein Government’s new Major Projects development  approval process is expected to be rushed through as early as Thursday, community groups  today called for the proposed bill to be released immediately so as to allow proper analysis of  any late changes to the current draft.

The groups reject the Governments case for the new process as part of ‘COVID recovery’ calling  it cynical opportunism and highlighting the fact the Government has failed to articulate a  meaningful reason as to why existing processes do not work and new fast-track approval is  required.
