Community Guides

Summary

PMAT works to educate, raise awareness and inspire engagement in planning and local council issues and processes in Tasmania via the development of free community guides. To date, PMAT has created six community guides which are outlined below.

  1. Significant changes are happening to Tasmania’s planning system with little to no community awareness or understanding.

PMAT's Key Recommendations

  1. Educate the Tasmanian community about the importance of planning and Tasmania’s planning system. 
  2. Encourage community participation in Tasmania’s planning system.
PMAT’s 2023 submission guide to help the community comment on the Liberal Governments proposal empower the Planning Minister to remove assessment and approval of developments from the normal local council process and have it done by development assessment panels (DAPs).
