The Battery Point Community Association is hosting a public meeting regarding the implications of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme and its implications for Battery Point.
Warwick Oakman of The National Trust of Australia (Tasmania) will talk on the proposed statewide planning scheme and its implications for Battery Point.
ABSTRACT
What is the position of the National Trust of Australia (Tasmania) on the proposed statewide planning scheme and what are its implications for Battery Point?
National Trust Board Member Warwick Oakman will present the Trust’s public statement on the proposed statewide planning scheme and provide a statewide analysis based upon an independent planning assessment of the scheme.
He will discuss the likely outcomes of the proposed scheme, identify potential loopholes and provide tips for Battery Point in defining its special area characteristics. He will conclude his talk with a call to action!
BIOGRAPHY
Warwick works as an architectural historian and antique dealer. His shop was situated for fourteen years in Battery Point, but is now situated in Richmond. Currently deputy chair of the National Trust of Australia (Tasmania), Warwick was the National Trust nominee on the Battery Point Advisory Committee on planning for the Hobart City Council for six years.
